SA's First Black Porn Movie

WHY REVIEW A PORN MOVIE? Well, why not? Mapona Vol. 1 made the news in every major publication in Mzansi when it came out. Pervs and curious peeps raved about Mzansi's first black porn movie.

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE'S CONTENT IS OF A SEXUAL NATURE. DO NOT CONTINUE BEYOND THIS POINT IF YOU ARE UNDER 18!!!

Naturally we all wanted to know what the hoohah is all about. Ok I am no an angel and have no qualms admitting that I have seen quiet a few number of porn movies in my life time. How many is none of your business ... so Mapona became a must-see.

Eventually, I got to see the dvd and have to say I found it more funny than it was sexy. So in the spirit of fair play I'll give it the same courtesy of a proper review like any other movie. Here goes:

What I ... ehm... liked about it

Firstly the team behind this project deserves some recognition for being bold enough to do this albeit it being a bit unsettling for some to ... swallow. We don't all go to church so for those who find porn appealing this would be a great move in diversifying the porn industry in SA. That's if the industry exists to begin with, which would make these guys pioneers if it doesn't.

Surprisingly the quality of the production is very good. Clearly the production crew had some experience in filming. The lighting and the colour pallet was good thus making the visuals more professionally looking.

One of the girls seemed to really enjoy what she was doing while the rest ... hmmm... errr... (we'll tackle that tit-bit later)

"Inkonzo Yase Mabhedeni" possibly the best scene in the whole movie is interesting to watch. The couple looks great and kinda sexy but sadly the scene is cut short. As my friend put it, "No money shot man, WTF!" Yebo, Mapona does not have any ejaculation shot which leaves every scene looking like it's incomplete.

What I didn't like about it

The influence of Americans in popular culture will reach every corner of human existence. At times while watching this you can't help but chuckle at the subtle attempt by the actors to emulate Americans. "Oh yeah baby f**k that sh*t", is that what black people say during sex in Mzansi?

It's sad when a guy asks a girl "do you like that baby?" and the poor girl looks like she just wants to get this over with and go watch Generations.

Could have done without the sound effect!! The girls' moaning and screams become a bit too forced at time and kinda over power the actual "action".

The scenes are way too short and not really structured properly to achieve the intended ... ahhh... stimulation. Yawn. Just as you are getting interested in what is happening you suddenly get a black fade out and some silly statement about nothing. Seriaaaaaaz!!!

Ok this is just their first video and they might get better with time but if this is what black South Africans do in the bedroom then it's a sad sad sad country we live in. No variations whatsoever, just some bang bang bang 3 positions bore. I have had more fun watching Noeleen talking about sex than watching these "pornstars" doing it in this movie.

The gang bang scene... lol... yawn. 3 girls, 2 guys (one of which looks like some old taxi driver) and all you get is girls all over the frame not exactly knowing what they are doing. Then again, the poor girls had very 'little' to work with... Lol. Bummer since one of the girls was kinda hot!

And whats with the slow-mo shots?

Verdict:

Again, bigup to the Mapona team for being pioneers. Whether one approves of their business venture or not, there is no denying that they may have found a niche in the market and will make good cash out of it. Atleast some social responsibility was adhered to by the stars using protection so before you start preaching AIDS please acknowledge that.

Well, hopefully no-one will see this dvd as an indication of what black SA brothas can do in the sack because it really would hurt our reputation. Some chemistry between 2 people having sex (even in a porn movie) is sexy, so having people who are bonking but do not seem like they are enjoying the experience is boring.

Then again, to each his own. To some -- emotionless and/or chemistry-less sex might be a turn on, if so, then Mapona is a definite hit (sondeza.com promos claim, 9 of 10 of its members recommend Mapona ... Tjo!)

Now that you've read this you owe the big guy upstairs 10 "Hail Marys!" lol.. haaaaaaaaaaaaleluyah!
