Word on Nambitha Mpumlwana And Her Generations Character

I have made no secret of my reservations about seasoned actress Nambitha Mpumlwana joining Generations at a time when the show seems to be just a train-wreck. However, I need to acknowledge the efforts to resurrect the show to its glorious form and maybe Nambitha is the right person for the job

On October 10th, one of my favourite actresses will make her first appearance on Generations as Mawenda Memela. Strange name I must say but maybe there is story behind that.

Mawande Memela is a tough-minded media mogul , wife, sister, aunt and mother of two. Determined to create an undeniable legacy for the Memela family name, Mawande epitomises the modern-day businesswoman.

“She is strong yet fallible, she stands proud but willingly humbles herself. She is not only unafraid of her femininity, she relishes it. I am looking forward to a growing relationship with her,” concludes Nambitha.
Lusanda Ganda, Marketing Manager of SABC 1, adds that
“SABC1 would not be able to live up to its promise of being Mzansi’s most authentic storyteller without the meaningful contribution and support of our country’s finest talent and industry greats such as Nambitha Mpumlwana. A seasoned and much respected actress, we are delighted that she is joining the cast of Generations.”

On behalf of the cast of Generations, Sophie Ndaba who plays the beloved character Queen Moroka says:
“I welcome this new addition to the Generations family. Having had the pleasure of working closely with Nambitha on Yizo Yizo and watching her craft on other shows , am delighted that our producers have chosen her, one of the most professional and passionate actors of our time. I look forward to the fab challenge of working with her and congrats to the producers for casting an actor that will certainly add value and zing to the best and most-watched soap in Africa, Generations!”
Well, I guess we gonna have to brace ourselves for this one. The mere mention of Nambitha joining the show has won Generations one more viewer from me on the 10th October 2011. I will be glued to my screen to see how Nambitha changes things on the show.

I think Generations has lost its oomph,It is the only soap in SA with fewer casting members..I mean a show should have a fair amount of actors so that the dialogue would be intriuging and worth watching. Now Generation has become a spur of a moment thing to its viewers, introduce new storylines and more intriguing drama..just like Muvhango and my favourite soapie Isidingo.
