Etv Publicity Dept Responds To My Criticism
I wrote an article about the concerns I have about the new changes at Etv with their publicity department. After reading that article, Head of Publicity Matla Ragoasha, called me yesterday to discuss the matter. She also send me an email today to iron-out few issues and arrange a meeting. To be honest, I had already gotten over the issue with Club 808. Just this past weekend I was at the Soweto Festival with the Etv team and had a blast. Publicist, Eugene Cele was a 'darling' in arranging the interviews for my team and I and making sure that we were ok.
Dear Phil,
I hope you are well this morning,
Thanks for the chat yesterday, it was great feedback
As per our conversation yesterday, below are the concerns that you expressed that I really think are valid:
1. Naomi’s mailer – most journalists I called felt that the mailer should have been accompanied by a press release, this is what used to happen in the past. It helps them understand the story and puts things into context.
2. Club 808 invitation –Yes, we didn’t have tickets for you, and it wasn’t our directly our gig, since Red Pepper was organising everything. They gave us the number of people we can invite to the VIP section and by the time you requested more tickets, we were already full. What I regret with this situation is that you were given attitude. This was not necessary, the Publicist should have rather tried to assist you instead of giving you attitude. My sincere apologies for this.
3. Over and above everything we have been too busy trying to adjust to the changes and were thinking of sending information about the changes in the department once we were settled. Once again my apologies that this wasn’t communicated to you in time.
I hope we can meet sometime early next week to discuss any other challenges that you may have with the e.tv Publicity department. This will not only give us insight about how we can work efficiently with you, but will also help us meet,
I am available early next week, let me know when you are available,
Thanks
Regards
Matla

Publicist, Eugene Cele was a 'darling' in arranging the interviews for my team and I and making sure that we were ok. My other colleagues who shot the Kenny Kunene's So What launch for Zoopy were also happy with Eugene for organising that for them.
Family and friends have squabbles and they get over them :)
