Diamond In The Ruff: Episode 5
Have you been watching South Africa's model competition show, Tuesdays, 19h00 on Mzansi Magic? Well if you have then you will be happy to know that the competition is heating up tonight.
Tonight the girls all undergo an assessment by model trainer Megan Kruger, and endure a serious “make-under” by hair-stylist Nana Ajyekum. Crazy weaves are removed, loud make-up permanently wiped off, and hair cut off.... And if that isn’t enough, they undergo a hectic training session in the gym by ‘The Diablo’ Bakhulule Baai – an internationally awarded Maui Thai champion. Today, they learn that all-important trick of the trade in the modelling world – the runway walk. The first eliminations take place, based on the runway-walk challenge.
I am not too crazy about model search shows, well except for America's Next Top Model - that's show has some crazy moments, so I haven't been following this show. From what I am told is that it is entertaining. However, the show is competing on a very tight timeslot. 19h00 is English news on 3 channels which means the viewership for the show is takes a huge dip at that time. Furthermore the show is not as widely advertised as it could be. Understandably, it is on DSTV which limits it's audience pull. But even with that small DSTV pull, it is still not attracting huge numbers. How do you solve that? get the girls out there.
And who are those girls? Here they are:

Now who wouldn't wanna know about these gorgeous women. Let them go to events and mingle with people within the industry. That way they will attract some attention to the show.
All girls will each win a
- Scholarship for R150 000 which will be paid out over 3 years at R50 000 annually.
- Since all the girls stand a chance to win a car, De Beers will pay for all the girls'
