Ricki Lake Is Back With A New Talkshow

Go Ricki! Go Ricki! Go Ricki!

She is now 43-year-old, a mother of two and still holds a special place in history as one of the most memorable TV personalities of our time. We practically grew up with the woman. I vividly remember coming home from school and switching on eTV to watch Ricki Lake.

The show educated us non-American that the USA is just like any other country in the world. It broke the illusion that everybody in America is rich and educated. I personally watched in disbelief sometimes that people would allow themselves to be humiliated in that manner in front of millions of people around the world. Who would have known that few years later we will have shows like The Kardashians where people make millions to expose their stupidity and vanity.

From 1998 through 2004, Ricki ruled the TV airwaves in the State and was second to only the Queen of Daytime herself, Oprah Winfrey. We here in South Africa were a a season or two behind the Americans so we ended up having the show on our screens long after it was cancelled in the US. Now with Oprah off the air, Ricki may have her core demographic, 25-54 year old women, on lock again. Come September 2012, Ricki will be debuting a new show.

She has lost some weight and looks absolutely amazing. She has always been a pretty girl anyway. She was only 25 years old when she started the show and has had few notable acting roles over the years in movies like Hairspray (1988) and Mrs Winterbourne (with Shirley McLaine).

Watch the video below as Ricki talks about her return to daytime television
