Actress Lesego Motsepe Reveals That She Is HIV+
The actress, best known for her role as Letti Matabane on local soap opera Isidingo, has admitted that she has been living with the virus for almost 13 years.
"The virus lives in my blood. For 13 years I had known, and I wanted to use the opportunity God gave me to be able to be a mentor to those who will be going through the same struggles I have gone through," she said.Motsepe has stated that the reason for her confession is to make a difference in the lives of others after she suffered rejection and resentment after those close to her became aware of her status.
I had the pleasure of seeing Lesego play Brenda Fassie at State Theatre last year. This prolific actor/musician/poet is truly an inspiration.
Not just as an performer but as a human being as well. I am personally so proud of her for taking this step in disclosing her status.

is it a competition now?
If you are in the public eye whatever you do people will somehow find a way to question your motive..
Koyo urged other celebs to come out and disclose their status, now when they do you are asking if it is a competition.
y wait for december?they should have done that a long time ago or is it attention seeking stunts?y wait for december?they should have done that a long time ago or is it attention seeking stunts?
I agree with you anon, y wait for the 1st of Dec for the big reveal. And theres realy nothing special about being positive anymore, y dramatise the coming out...
I still think its better than not disclosing at all. The more people put a human face to this disease the less stigma it will have.
I am with Phil on this. She has been + for over 13 years and has gone about her job quietly without seeking attention, unless she suddenly starts seeking reality tv opportunities, i see nothing wrong in her revelation.
While i am not convinced anyone revealing their status will influence the sexaul conduct of people, it makes sense doing the revelation in december as AIDS/HIV garners its highest publicity in december.
Rather than seeking celebrities to come out and declare their + status,i am more desirous of celebrities making disclosures that will aid prevention not stigmatization.
You will never understand how much damage JZ's shower incident had on the AIDS fight.
HIV/AIDS already has a human face. anyone who pretends about that in this country will not be convinced even if he/she saw an infected angel.
We need disclosures that will aid prevention not disclosure.
Maybe a picture of JZ with a condom in his wallet or a paparazzi catching a celebrity buying condoms at the local BP garage.
Something to make protection seem sexy.
you don't know how much damage Zuma's shower has had on the AIDS battle. in the eyes of many he is a real man and the message was that real men don't wear protection.
Thanks to all those who revealed their status, they are now free, unlike you and me who can't even go test. We live in fear all the time but would still want to enjoy life. High 5 to them, they've accepted and we accept them, you accept them. After your comments you know their status. This is time, tomorrow is still another time to test or reveave your status (No penalties) God Bless
Get over yourselfs. This is just like any other disease that people live with forver. And whats special about being positive? Ahga!
Wow...I am proud of Lesego for coming out like that....it is brave of her....I dont know if I could.....I think what our fellow celebrities are doing is good....this way people will see from how they live that HIV is not a death sentence.....they are leaving normal lives...we should stop judging and start doing what is right by applauding people like bo Koyo and Lesego.... I hope others would do the same...it will be nice to know were we all stand.....know your status......
