Meryl Streep's Daughter Lands Her Own TV Show

Mamie Gummer -- Meryl Streep's daughter! -- stars as a newly-minted med school graduate who's eager to start a new life at Denver Memorial Hospital in a new medical show in the US called Emily Owens, M.D.

We've seen lots and lots of shows that depict the dramas, romances and real-life consequences of life at a hospital, but Emily Owens, M.D. promises to be a bit breezier than Grey's Anatomy with a little more female appeal than Scrubs.

Mamie is no stranger to the screen (big or small), she has been acting since she was a child. She appeared with her mother in Heartburn (credited under the name Natalie Stern to avoid press scrutiny) and despite being only three at the time of filming, received a positive review in the New York Times.

In 2007, Gummer starred again with her mother in Michael Cunningham's film adaptation of Susan Minot's novel Evening, playing her mother as a young woman.

On tv she has guest starred in shows like The Good Wife and Bad.

Of course, the big attraction to her show is the fact that she is Meryl Streep's daughter. Whether that is a good or bad thing is debatable but there is no denying that a lot of mommy fans will be looking at Mammie Gummer to see if she measures up to her.

PS: If you were wondering about the Gummer surname, well that's Mamie's father's name and Meryl Streep's matrimonial last name.

Meryl has been married to Don Gummer since 1978 and they have 4 kids together.  Mamie Gummer and Grace Gummer are actresses and Hank is a musician.
