TV Ratings Take A Dive

One would think that it is winter so people are home most of the time snuggled up on their couches watching TV but hell no.  The numbers show that 7 is no longer the lucky number. The highest rated show in Mzansi, Generattions of course, was averaging 7 million viewers in December last year and that is when you do not expect people to be home watching tv.

Special Mention: Congratulations to Cutting Edge. I do not know if the show get the advantage because it is on SABC 1 but when it is pitted against the controversial 3rd Degree, the aforementioned comes tops in the ratings.

Has Deborah Patta lost her mojo? Judging by current episodes, like the poorly put together Hair episode, I am not surprised.

Even the most talked about episode about Skhothanes fell short because it looked like a rehash of the Cutting Edge expose'.

The Biggest Losers: Again Selimathunzi, Live and Top Billing. These shows are a big deal in this industry. Their presenters are catapulted to stardom just by being on these show. One would expect them to be pulling in big numbers but NO!.

Interestingly, all three of these shows have had Presenter Search competition that could have boosted their ratings but that did not happen.

None of the three even attracts 1 million viewers. They do not make the Top 10 shows in their respective channels. It is even worse for Top Billing given that the least watched show on SABC3's Top 10 is on 800 000 viewers.

Unappreciated: Zone 14. I may have mentioned this before, I just do not get why the stars of this show are not big names in Mzansi. This is the second most watched show in this country.

I do not watch the show but clearly a lot of people do so if stardom is about mass appeal clearly Zone 14 stars should be up there with the over glorified schlebs of Mzansi. Hell they atleast deserve it.

NOTE: Rhythm City's numbers have increased compared to this week last year.

So people, what are you doing this winter that is keeping you too busy to watch tv?

Phil i dont understand how Live is not in the top 10 of the most washed shows, cause every Friday night people will be twitting about Bonang's dress or hair or about what happening on the show and yet the show is only being watched by mere 800,000 people.
