At One Point There Were Three Living Queens Of England

Three Queens At King George VI's Funeral
Yesterday newly elected Pope Francis met with the retired Pope Emeritus Benedict making it the first time in 600 years the Vatican has two living Popes. Interestingly history was made briefly in 1952 after the death of King George VI of England when his daughter Elizabeth ascended the throne as Queen Elizabeth II. His mother, wife and daughter were all Queens of England by titles. They were Queen Mary - The Dowager, Queen Elizabeth - The Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth II - The Reigning Queen, respectively. Queen Mary died the following year just 10 weeks before Queen Elizabeth's coronation leaving her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon and granddaughter Elizabeth as the Queen Mother and the Queen.
