Minnie To Star In A New Mzansi Magic Show

With the demise of The Wild some of its stars may be reeling the thought of joining the unemployed masses of Mzansi but not KZN Starlet Minnie Dlamini. Forget the fact that she is an SABC1 darling and they would make her read the news just to make sure she is on the channel, Minnie seems to be intended on expanding her acting CV.

Just hot off of The Wild, Minnie is now reported to be starring in a new show that will premiere on DStv channel 161 soon called Rockville.

The show is said to be produced by industry power couple Shona and Connie Ferguson who starred with Minnie on The Wild with Connie playing her mother on that show.

Rockville which had the working title of Black Diamonds and which is being produced by Ferguson Films revolves around two feuding families living in different places, similar to the Mzansi Magic telenovelas isiBaya and iNkaba.

In Rockville one family lives in Soweto (where Rockville is) and the other in a leafy suburb.

The Wild was a great production and the acting was on par with the strong storyline thus enabling newcomers like Minnie to prove that they can hold their own against industry veterans like Clementine Mosimane and Ian Roberts.

Gotta say, Minnie can act, no doubt. That said though, the role on The Wild was not necessarily a demanding one. I would love to see her tackle some role that is far removed from the adorable girl she is  built already with her public persona.

Hopefully with this new show she can show some versatility as an actress.

For now, Good on yah, Gurl!
