Bonang Donates R10000 To Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital
Our girl B, won hearts of fans, foes and new admirers last night at the Unite For Mandela gala dinner held at the Sandton Convention Centre by leading our celebrities by example and pledging a donation of R10 000 to the Nelson Mandela Children Hospital.
Bonang has seen a lot of success in her career. She is one of the most sought after and highest paid hosts in the country. She is the Queen of branding, which has nabbed her a few lucrative endorsement deals, the latest of which being Revlon.
It is encouraging to see her giving back to the nation that has afforded her the opportunity to live her dreams. She is an inspiration to a generation, so this generous offer will go a long way to encourage others to be involved.
This personal pledge by our very own Queen-of-all-things-media was made on behalf of her company Bonang Matheba Entertainment.
The moment formed part of the drive at the gala dinner to encourage individuals to join in on this amazing cause to build a children hospital in Madiba's name that will service the whole of Southern Africa and the continent at large in Pediatric treatment and after-care for families.
Following suit were stars like Judith Sephuma who pledged her R10000 on behalf of her family.
Another special moment came courtesy of VEntertainment director, Legend. He pledged a R1000 but it was his message about only being able to afford that amount that touched the audience and solicited a few more R1000s for the cause.
An auction was also held on the night and one of the items auctioned off was Serena Williams' dress which fetched R75 000.
Minister Mabalula, who could easily make a living in MC-ing if politics do not workout, gave an impromptu speech after his donation and purchase of one of the paintings being auctioned off. The Minister jockingly "instructed" South African billionaire to donate R7 milllion to the cause.
Mr Patrice Motsepe was only too happy to "oblige" and pledge that R7mil.
A great night was had by all and a lot of money was raised for the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital.
You too can follow Bonang, who looked absolutely regal in GJC dress, and the others' example by donating.
You can SMS Gift to 40301 and be a part of the Nelson Mandela Legacy, all proceeds go to the Nelson Mandela children's hospital.
