Enter 1Gospel Songwriting Competition

ONE Gospel, channel 331 DStv, is launching the Inspired Lyric Competition starting on the 1st of September until November 2013. The competition is aimed at providing a platform for songwriters across the African Continent.

ONE Gospel is inviting lyricists from across the continent to write and submit their work.

From these entries the 3 top lyrics will be chosen. The three finalists will have their songs put to music and performed by Mahalia Buchanan, LoyisoBala and Solly Mahlangu.

These three songs will be released as music videos on ONE Gospel and as singles across various Christian radio stations as part of our 6th Birthday celebrations on the 1st of November.

Viewers will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite of the three songs and a final winner will be announced at the end of November 2013.

The winner of the competition will receive a further R10, 000.00 cash prize, and the two runners up will receive a R5000.00 cash prize.

Loyiso Bala who will be performing one of the songs commented:
“Gospel music is not a genre but rather the message within a genre. Lyrical content is the most important aspect of creating a gospel song. I am really honoured to be involved in this project because it is not about us finding the best gospel singer, but the real star behind a successful song; the lyricist”.
Through 1 September – 30 September 2013, anybody aged 18 years and older, who would like to put their song writing skills into action, must submit their lyrics via the email to info@onegospel.co.za.

There is more information about the competition on the ONE Gospel website www.onegospel.co.za, including competition rules and the entry form.
