Rihanna Set To Break Madonna's Record
Rihanna looks like she's ready to break more records, as she celebrates her 20th No. 1 on the US Hot Dance Club chart, putting her in second behind Madonna for the most dance hits. The Chart showcases the week's most popular songs played in dance clubs, compiled from reports from a national sample of official Billboard club DJs in the United States.
The Bajan singer swooped in front of Janet Jackson's total of 19, with her single Right Now featuring David Guetta, but is still significantly behind Madonna's record of 43 on the chart compiled by Billboard.
She might be second for now on this chart but she beats Madonna for the number of cumulative weeks her tracks have featured on the Billboard chart with 47 compared to Madonna's 32.
However, Rihanna has already achieved more top ten singles in the shortest amount of time on the Billboard 100 than any other artist.
In it's 37 year history, Madonna has secured 43 number ones on the list but she achieved her total over 20 years, while Rihanna has secured 20 chart-toppers in less than eight.
That's an average of three No. 1s per year of her career compared to Madonna's two. Dayummm Gurl!
Another impressive feet for RiRi is that in the Billboard 100 chart, she matched The Supremes and Madonna's 12 number one singles with Diamonds back in November 2012, putting her in fifth place behind Michael Jackson's 13.
I like Rihanna but I am not that crazy about her. Not to rain on her parade, but what worried me a little bit is the fact that the Rihannas and Justin Biebers are the ones defining our generation's musical legacy.
