Rockville Commisioned For A Second Season

Rockville on Mzansi Magic has become a surprise hit for the channel. The show, created by celebrity couple Shona and Connie Ferguson under their production company, has been one of the most talked about shows on social media. A clearly elated Connie Ferguson told Thobela FM listeners over the weekend that the show will have a second season.

The world of Rockville with the web of intrigue which spun over three very different worlds that define black South Africa today, was brought to life by the stellar performances by a superb ensemble cast which included the likes of Trevor Gumbi, Mbali Mlotshwa, Bonnie Mbuli, Luthuli Dlamini, Gail Nkoane, Minnie Dlamini and Boity Thulo.

The latter was definitely the breakout star of this show. Who knew that little Boity had some huge acting talent in her. The starlet's surprisingly brilliant performance ensure that the viewers quickly had to abandon any thought that this was just another show that was trying to ride of the popularity of these so-called "it-girls".

She delivered and proved her prowess as an actress.

Another brilliant performance came from an actress who has had to live the life of one character on screen for over 15 years. Connie Ferguson (nee Masilo) had a lot riding on this as she was clearly determined to shed the association she has had with Karabo from Generations. She too achieved her goal. Audiences have been singing her praise since her very first scene on screen in Rockville.

The current season of Rockville will air its finale this week.

Catch Rockville finale on Mzansi Magic, 21 August at 19h00 and repeated Mondays at 21h30
