Forbes' Highest-Earning Television Actress

And the top-earning actress on television, for the second year in a row, is... The Colombian bombshell, Sofia Vergara, who plays firecracker mother Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on hit comedy Modern Family, which can currently be seen in South Africa on Etv and Mnet Series.

Vergara made nearly $30 million last year, according to the Forbes Celebrity 100 list.

The rand's exchange value to the Dollar is R10,26 today so we will just round up the number to R10, which means the amount that bestowed Vergara this honor is R 300 mil.

Vergara's high earnings, due in part to her sizeable Modern Family paycheck, were also fueled largely by her lucrative endorsement deals, which include Kmart, Diet Pepsi and Covergirl.

According to Forbes, the Celebrity 100 list looks at the earnings of celebrities during a specific time period—this list was compiled from June 2012 through June 2013.  Forbes speaks to agents, lawyers and considers  "upfront pay, residuals, endorsements and advertising work" when creating the list. The top 20 list of actresses earned R

1,83 Billion collectively.

Mariska Hargitay from Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (on SABC3 in SA) and Kaley Cuoco from The Big Bang Theory (SABC3/Mnet) tied for the No. 2 spot on the list, with each actress taking home an estimated R110 million last year.

Mariska Hargitay
Hargitay's paycheck comes solely from SVU as she has no endorsement deals. Currently in its 14th season, the NBC series has more than 300 episodes in syndication in the US and she is getting paid for it. That is how Oprah made her million -- through syndication.

Kaley Cuoco in The Big Bang Theory
Cuoco's jump from No. 11 last year is thanks to an estimated R3 000,000 per episode for Big Bang and deals with Toyota and Priceline.

At No. 4 are Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian with R100 million each.

The sisters Kardashian insist all's fair in their klan, telling Forbes that they all took home equal paydays from their combined efforts on- and off-camera. Keeping Up With the Kardashians continues to be a ratings win for E! while clothing lines at Sears and QVC aren't showing any sign of slowing down.

Kerry Washington came in at number 19 of 20 with total earnings of R3 million. She is the only black actress on the list. As The Fixer's Olivia Pope, Washington has the distinction of being the first African American actress to play a lead in a prime-time drama since the 1960s--and the Shonda Rhimes show is a certified hit earning an estimated R1 Billion ($100mil) in ad revenue this season.

2014 might see Kerry move up the list as in addition to a salary increase she'll begin to enjoy earnings off of a unique (and early) syndication deal with BET.

NOTE: The Fixer is called Scandal everywhere except in South Africa. Find out why HERE
