SABC Apologises For SABC1 DSTV EPG Embarassment
On Monday MultiChoice dropped SABC1 program listing and descriptors from its electronic programme guide (EPG). The move sent shock-waves across the entertainment media industry, soliciting some stern criticism of the SABC from tv critics. I personally picked up the story from TVSA after being livid that my PVR recordings were compromised and not knowing if my machine was faulty or DSTV was not paying attention.
By Wednesday the story had picked momentum and the SABC was still mum about this embarrassing fiasco.
Thanks to some probing by prolific TV critc Thinus Ferreira the SABC has finally given an apology about the fiasco.
Kaizer Kgangayo, SABC spokesperson said on Wednesday;
By Wednesday evening the programme listing had been restored by DSTV."The SABC has been experiencing some internal challenges" and that the problem is getting urgent attention."The SABC has been experiencing some internal challenges regarding the EPG on SABC1," "The matter has received our urgent attention and we are working on a solution towards this"."Please note that we will ensure that the matter is resolved as quickly as possible. In the meantime we would like to request our viewers to be patient with us as we attend to this,"
Now we can only hope that the problems that led to the problem in the first place has been resolved.
