Etv Snatches Ultimate Braai Master From SABC 3

It has happened again. Yet another popular show on the SABC channel jumps ship to Etv. The latest to abandon the public broadcaster for greener pastures is the hugely popular cooking show, Ultimate Braai Master.

Word is; Season 3 of the Ultimate Braai Master show will air on Etv come May.

The show will still retain its title sponsor and the pantry partner, Pick n Pay, who will support the top 15 teams with a fully stocked pantry across the 13-part series.

Says Pick n Pay’s general manager of Marketing, Malcolm Mycroft:
“Ultimate Braai Master celebrates the culture of diversity that defines South Africa as a nation; a one-of-a-kind country that has become a melting pot of culinary creativity – at the centre of which remains the humble braai. We are proud to be sponsoring the third season of Ultimate Braai Master which will once again allow us to showcase, through the Pick n Pay Pantry on the show, our wide offering of fresh, local and sustainable products in this uniquely entertaining way.”

The third season will introduce a new judge, South African-born executive chef Petrus Madutlela, who will join host Justin Bonello and executive chef judge Bertus Basson in putting contestants through their paces.

Madutlela’s culinary career spans some of South Africa’s top restaurants before he moved to London in 2010 where he’s worked alongside top chefs in the Savoy, the Michelin Star Restaurant Chapter One in Kent, and as head chef of The Hengist, a two rosette restaurant near Aylesford. Madutlela plans on returning to South Africa with his wife and young son in May to join the Ultimate Braai Master season 3 production.

He comments,
“I am thrilled to be joining the team of Ultimate Braai Master, judging a competition that resonates with my own passion for the braai, the great outdoors, and of course, challenging the creative boundaries of what can be produced on an open fire. I’m especially excited to be coming back home to South Africa with my family, where I dream of opening a signature restaurant and featuring food that's simple, seasonal and authentic.”

The winner of this season will walk away with the title, R500 000 cash, the brand new Renault Duster 4x4 valued at R260 000 and many more prizes.
