An Evening With SONY To Launch Its Winter Line-up

 Last night a few media contingent ascended to Johannesburg for the launch of Sony 2014 Upfronts. The event was mainly for SONY International to announce new shows and seasons of their current shows on their two channels carried by DSTV here in South Africa. 

The event was held at Urban Tree just outside of Sandton. Our host for the evening was Sasha Marteningo. The entertainment for the evening came courtesy of the electronic duo The Kiffness. Truth be told I had no idea who they were when I saw the name of the invite. Well .. now I know. 

The highlight of the evening of course was the prize giveaways. Upon arrival each guest was given a key which could open one (or more as it turned out when my friend won 2 prizes) boxes that had Sony products such as a digital camera, Sony Experia tablet and headphones.

I was guttered when my new friend for the evening Daniella insisted that we go try and open the boxes, I sadly told her that I never win anything but she urged me to go try with her. Just my luck or bad luck depending on how you look at it, my misfortune rubbed off on her in a good way and she opened one box and won headphone. As if that was not enough, she tried another box and there it was; the SONY tablet. 

I was green with envy. I had just told her that I never win anything and she ends up winning 2 prizes. Anyway, I was happy for her and we had a grand'ol good time celebrating her good fortune for the night. 

I had hoped that the goodie bag would have a consolation gift but was disappointed when there were no gadgets but CDs and some bowl. Hey, I love gadgets,. I brag to my friends about the Bluetooth mini speaker I got from Sony last year so my hopes were high when I got the invite for this event. 

The new shows coming to the channel are; 

•  Freak Show on Sony Max in May
• Girlfriends Season 1 on Sony  also in May

Returning with new seasons are; 

• The Boondocks with Season 4 coming in June on Sony MAX
• Real Husbands Of Hollywood also returns in July on Sony MAX
• The Killer Karaoke will make its return in July also on Sony MAX

You can still enjoy shows like Crossing Lines, Tisha, The Arsenio Hall Show and my personal fav THE AMAZING RACE on the Sony channels ...127 and 128 on DSTV.
