Marlon Wayans To Host The MTV Africa Music Awards

After a three year absence The MTV Africa Music Awards is returning to MTV Base with a star studded event in Durban-Kwazulu Natal on 7 June. The event will be hosted by Fil and television star, Marlon Wayans. 

Viacom International Media Networks International Africa (VIMN Africa)'s announcement of Marlon Wayans as the host was met with some mixed reaction as some viewed the appointment of an American star as a snub to the talent residing on the continent. 

"Marlon Wayans is a hugely popular entertainment figure known and loved by African audiences from The Wayans Brothers and his various movie roles. His irreverent humour and infectious energy will definitely make him a great host for the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards," says Alex Okosi, the senior vice president and managing director of VIMN Africa.

Catch the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards  live on MTV Base (DSTV 322) and MTV (DSTV 130) on 7 June at 21:00, as well as the delayed broadcast same evening on BET (StarSat 190).
