Bonang Returning To Metro FM
Barely a month after their very public spat it seems Bonang Matheba and MetroFM have kissed and made up. The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has announced that Bonang Matheba will be returning to Metro FM to host The Front Row again.
The public broadcaster says Queen B reached an agreement with them after a “brief departure”. In a statement, SABC Chief Operations Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng said,
“The SABC would like to welcome back Ms Matheba and accepts her apology.”
The SABC says she has “unreservedly withdrawn all her public statements” that she made about her departure from the broadcaster before the 2014 Fifa World Cup started on 12 June.
Bonang on the other hand is said to be “thrilled” to be continue her “long-standing relationship” with the national broadcaster.
Responding to this Matheba reportedly said:
” Metro FM is a fine station and it is a pity that my journey with them has been so short. I am an independent freelancer and have been working peacefully with all broadcasters over the years. My future potential cannot be jeopardised by accepting terms that will not grow my career. I could not agree to the SABC’s blanket terms – in restricting me to work with other broadcasters even though my contract with them was on radio.”
“The support I have received from the listeners and viewers has been overwhelming, and for that I am grateful. I look forward to an aligned future plan with the SABC, doing what I love as I spearhead my business plan. It’s an exciting time ahead.”
Catch Bonang on The Front Row weekdays from 9am to 12pm starting 11 August.
