SABC3 Loses Its Head Of Programming

SABC3 has finally parted ways with its Head of Programming, Mr Lefa Afrika. This comes after the SABC announced that it will be going through some major changes and rescheduling of its shows.

SABC3 currently looking to appoint a new programme manager. Lefa Afrika was the head of programming at SABC3 but became the acting channel head of SABC3 at the beginning of 2013 when Ed Worster left.
"We can't exist in the way that we've always existed," says Leo Manne, the general manager for TV channels at the SABC about the changes that will be introduced to the SAC in the coming weeks.
"It's important that a public broadcasting platform like the SABC stays relevant as far as South Africa's development is concerned. That's why is necessary that we react to the times".
Lefa Afrika who joined the SABC in October 2009 was demoted from the position of Channel Head to this position in April and Aisha Mohamed was appointed as the new permanent SABC3 channel head.

Given that the highest rated local show on the channel averages just about a million viewers and huge brand shows like Top Billing and 3 Talk with Noeleen struggle to even reach that million viewers mark, these new changes to attarct viewers to the channel are definitely needed.
