Akon And His Brother Abou Caught In Financial Woes
Eish san... TMZ is reporting that the Senegalese Thiam Brothers, Akon and his brother Abu — who is a music exec and Chris Brown's manager, have fallen on hard times.
Chris Brown's manager Abou Thiam was reported last week to have lost his mansion in Georgia after falling behind on property taxes. The 5 bedroom, 5 1/2 bath, 4,659 sq foot house was sold at auction in February for R5m. Apparently Bu paid R7.4m for the home in 2011.
Days later TMZ was reporting that Akon's Ferrari 458 Italia is about to be repossessed, claiming the international record mogul owes R2.5m on his lease.
The interesting part in all this is that the car is only worth R2.25m but the total cost of the lease is a whopping R3.6m!
Akon is the more famous of the brothers but Abou has made a name for himself , successfully, in the entertainment industry too.
Abou served as the vice president of A&R of Def Jam Records. He was also the co-CEO of Konvict Muzik, which played a hand in the rise of Lady Gaga when she was about to get dropped from Interscope Records and Jimmy Iovine had no interest in her at the time.
Abou also managed Chris Brown shortly after Brown fired his manager Tina Davis for supposedly "leaking" his music.
