Anele Mdoda To Host A Talkshow On SABC3

SABC has a new talkshow in the works which will be similar in style to the American TV talk shows The Talk and The View. The show will be a  primetime talk show with topics and conversations that will be more risque, often controversial, and serious topics in between lighter discussions including entertainment and popular culture.

Anele Mdoda will act as the moderator with an ensemble panel of talkers which will include Sashi Naidoo, Michael de Pinna and Carolyn Steyn.

Just judging by the panel I can tell you that the show is not intended to attract Mmakgomo from Makopane. 

Recorded in an upmarket house in Johannesburg, there will be 13 episodes in the first season of the show.

Carolyn Steyn

Carolyn Steyn, I read that she is the wife of the insurance mogul Douw Steyn ans she is apparently a socialite.  I recognized her when I googled the name that she is the lady that was on the news this year for that 67 blankets for Madiba campaign. 

Model and TV presenter Sashi Naidoo will do red carpet coverage and inserts as a "roving" reporter. Once again our industry fails to recognize that celebrities interviewing celebrities does not work. 

Micheal de Pinna

Michael de Pinna, the only male on the panel. You will remember him as that guy who wore the leopard-skin underwear in Vodacom's TV ad a while back. He will be adding the guy's perspective on the show... we hope.

The show will discuss one serious topic per week, but then the main feature would be about what happened in the world, then the serious topic or issues, and then more light-hearted subjects.

A local celebrity will visit the show weekly to sit down with the panel to talk about health or fitness. 

And the show is called .... (drumroll) ... Tongue In Cheek.
