Bonang Matheba Accepts The Ice Bucket Challenge

It was announced at the Woolworths Style By SA event in Braamfontein on Thursdays that TV and  Radio personality Bonang Matheba has accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge after being nominated by Woolworths SA CEO Ian Moir.

Moir took the Ice Bucket Challenge after being nominated by Cape Union Mart boss Andre Labuschagne.

Moir took on the challenge in honour of employees and customers living with Breast Cancer and donated R100 000 to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).

He nominated Doug Murray, CEO of the Foschini Group, Barclays Africa CEO Maria Ramos and media personality Bonang Matheba to take the challenge.

At a soiree at Shine studios in Johannesburg to launch Woolworths spring fashion stock selections, it was announced that Bonang has accepted and will take the challenge on Tuesday,  September 9th.

The Ice Bucket Challenge was started in support of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, which is a neurodegenerative disorder where muscle tissue degenerates.

The campaign has garnered support from business tycoons such as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and former Microsoft chair Bill Gates. Local celebrities such as Maps Maponyane and Katlego Maboe have also taken the challenge.

Bonang's Metro FM colleague RTbo Touch was challenged by Zimbabwean telecommunication tycoom Dr James Makamba and is yet to accept the challenge.
