Fire Engulfs Sasani Studios And Stalls Production On TV Shows | Big Brother Africa Hotshots Launch Cancelled

Big fire has engulfed Sasani Studios in Johannesburg, putting production of a few local shows on hold and effectively stalling the launch of Big Brother Africa Hotshots which was scheduled for this Sunday. No-one is reported to be injured and the cause of the fire is not known as yet.

Sasani Studios lot is home to shows ranging from weekdays soaps like Isidingo on SABC3, which ironically moved there after its former studio space was destroyed by a fire, to e.tv's Scandal! and Rhythm City; as well as other shows like SABC1's Gospel Gold, to e.tv's game show I Love South Africa.

After fire fighters battled the destructive blaze, it became clear that the most affected part of the complex is the Big Brother Africa Hotshots house.

M-Net and Endemol South Africa have since said that "due to a devastating fire at the Big Brother house, Big Brother Hotshots will no launch this Sunday as scheduled".

It's not yet clear whether the fire has impacted on any of the other TV shows and soaps in production on a technical level due to possible adjacent structural, equipment or set damage.

No one yet on whether production would be able to resume on Wednesday on those shows and soaps sharing the same studio lot.
