Legal Drama Ensues Over Cancelled TribeOne Festival

Music lovers were shocked today when it was announced via social media that the TribeOne music festival has been cancelled — with event organizers citing conflict with the City of Tshwane. The latest development on this story is that the City of Tshwane is taking legal action against the organizers.

According to Business Day, the City of Tshwane is shocked by the "unilateral decision" by Rockstar 4000, led by Sony Music Entertainment Africa, to cancel the festival and said that they will be taking them to court to force them to continue with the festival.

The City of Tshwane on the other hand maintains that they delivered everything they were supposed to.

According to them they have provided the necessary infrastructure to the open space where the festival is suppose to take place in the form of water supply, roads and electricity.

Channel24 confirms the news citing that Sony Music spokesperson told then that they can’t comment at this stage as "this matter is currently the subject of legal proceedings".

The TribeOne festival was set to take place in Cullinan on 26, 27 and 28 September 2014 and would’ve featured international acts Nicki Minaj, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Kid Ink and J Cole.
