SABC2 Partners In The Indigenous Games 2014

SABC2 was pleased to announce their participation in this year’s fun-filled indigenous games taking place on the 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th of September at the Pretoria Events Show Grounds. 

The partnership is part of the channel’s activities in celebrating this year’s heritage month with the South African public.

The indigenous games reflect the cultural diversity of South Africa, and made up of nine indigenous game codes. The game codes to be participated in are Morababara, Iitonga, Ncuva, Kgati, Driestokies, Jukskei, Diketo, Kho-Kho and Dibeke. 

Hosted by the department of Sport and Recreation the event will showcase unity through sports and community participation.

The 2014 Indigenous Games will open with the Street Carnival parade from the Union Building to Tshwane Events Centre on Sunday 21st September 2014 from 9am. The parade will include a choreographed piece by 200 kids and dancers. 

SABC2 personalities from Muvhango, 7de Laan, What’s Behind The Wall?, Ba Kae, Morning Live, Pasella and Gare dumele will make appearances at the SABC2 stall, interacting and competing against their fans. 

The activities also have a kiddies entertainment lined up with SABC2 youth show Hectic Nine-9  hosting the section and an interaction with DUB. The kids will participate in fun activities such as face painting and jumping castle.

The indigenous games represent competitions taking place in 9 provinces featuring 2 500 athletes competing for the national titles with KwaZulu Natal being the defending champion.
