Usher Suffers Tour Ticket Sales Slump
Word is , Pop star Usher is having trouble selling tickets for his upcoming tour in the US. Poor guy hasnt had a great few years with the Usher brand — messy divorce and losing a son and now this.
Page Six reports that despite Usher being a judge on “The Voice,” ticket sales for his world tour, “The UR Experience,” have been lackluster.
Usher is supposed to be headed out on a 27-city tour with August Alsina and DJ Cassidy in a few weeks but insiders tell Page Six that the estimated sales are so soft that promoter Live Nation may lose $5 million on the project.
“Usher’s sales will be fine in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Toronto, but he’s selling so badly in other markets that the good ones can’t offset the bad ones,” said one source.
One reason might be the lack of a strong opening act — August Alsina was to open, but recently collapsed during a performance and was hospitalized for a week. DJ Cassidy is also on the tour roster.
Usher has also reportedly pushed back the release of his eighth album, “UR,” to next year.
Well he might as well come to South Africa. We like rolling out the cash and the red carpet for hasbeen American superstar here.
Seriously though, Usher may be going through a rough patch but don't feel too sorry for him. He is still ranking in the big bucks through endorsements and the cash cow of his Justin Bieber.
