SA's Hottest TV Ladies Cause A Twitter Frenzy With A Marie Claire Picture

When I first saw the Marie Claire picture on Dineo Ranaka's twitter timeline my jaws dropped. I just thought to myself that this was one of the most beautiful and clever shots I have seen in SA long time and I immediately shared my approval. Imagine my disappointment when I found out that the picture was not an original concept.

The South African edition of Marie Claire magazine has set out  recreate iconic and controversial fashion ads of all time in their November issue.

Turns out the stunning picture shared on Twitter featuring Dineo Ranaka, Pearl Thusi, Khanyi Mbau, LeAnne Dlamini and Dineo Moeketsi posing in matching crop tops and shiny miniskirts formed part of the edition's theme.

The picture is a recreation of Gianni Versace Couture Fall/Winter 1994 which feature then supermodels Claudia Schiffer,  Stephanie Seymour, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Nadja Auermann — photographed by Richard Avedon

Remember the 90's when Gianni Versace was King of fashion, real supermodels ruled the world and magazines spreads ... oh and Linda Evangelista wouldn't get out of bed for less than 10K! Ah the 90's. I was a kid then but I was obsessed with magazines.

Marie Claire South Africa accompanied the picture on Twitter with a tweet that read;

“SA celebs recreate the world’s most controversial fashion campaigns in our #Novemberissue.”

Word is that more celebrities will be featured in the edition recreating more iconic fashion images of our time.

My slight disappointment that the picture I thought was groundbreaking turned out to be unoriginal aside, the ladies do look amazing.

I am a huge supporter of Dineo Ranaka, I like Pearl and Dineo Moeketsi, I don't know LeeAnn that well and Khanyi, who doesn't love Ms Mbau ...

Congrats to the ladies for living up and surpussing the iconic-ness of this amazing moment in time captured on film. They can share this with their grand kids in 50 years time with very fond memories.
