Actress Bubu Mazibuko Invited To The Emmys in New York
South African actress Bubu Mazibuko is set to rub shoulders with Hollywood stars at this year's 42nd International Emmy Awards. Not only is the actress invited to the star-studded event, she was also on this year's judging panel for the prestigious television awards.
Mazibuko, who is known in South Africa for starring in hit local tv shows such as Yizo Yizo and Hopeville, was selected to be part of the judging in the Drama Category.
She has also shared the big screen with international stars such as Derek Luke and Tim Robbins in Catch A Fire, as well as Naomi Harris and Idris Elba in Lone Walk To Freedom.
The International Emmy Awards, not to be confused with the Primetime Emmys that took place in August, recognize excellence in television produced outside of the United States and it presents The International Emmy® Awards statuette in twenty categories.
Nominated in the category Bubu Mazibuko was judging are;
- Prófugos (Chile)
- The Tunnel (Franc)
- Utopia (United Kingdom)
- Yae's Sakura (Japan)
South Africa will be represented by etv's Late Night News with Loyiso, which is nominated in the Comedy category.
The 39-year-old Soweto- born actress has also been part of the judging panel on the South African Television and Film Awards (SAFTAs).
She leaves for New York to on November 20th, to attend the awards ceremony which will be on the 24th.
