Huisgenoot Wants To Turn YOUR Love Story into a Movie

Huisgenoot is 100 years “young” in 2016 and they have kicked off an exciting new movie project to celebrate the occasion.  Huisgenoot has teamed up with kykNET to make a movie and a reader’s love story could be turned into a romcom.

They’re looking for a moving story with all the ingredients of a winning script – laughter, tears and nail-biting moments.

With this movie, they’ll be celebrating the most important milestone in the history of the oldest and biggest Afrikaans magazine in the country.

The story must of course have a happy ending – the hero and heroine must end up living happily ever after but like in all relationships there must be ups and downs.

Huisgenoot has, with the help of kykNET, provided detailed guidelines for writing a typical romantic comedy script in its latest issue.

What to do:

  • Read the guidelines,
  • Write a story in 3000 words
  • email that story to HG100fliek@huisgenoot.com by Saturday, 14 February 2015.

Besides standing a chance to have one’s story turned into a movie, there are also Olympus digital cameras and cash prizes up for grabs.

The closing date for the Huisgenoot love story competition is Saturday, 14 February 2015. Entries will be judged by a panel from kykNET and Huisgenoot.

More details in the latest issue of  Huisgenoot – on sale from Friday ,7 November.  There’s also a good example of a love story written by one of Huisgenoot’s own journalists.
