Nokuthula Ledwaba To Star With Nomzamo Mbatha In The New Etv Drama Series
etv and its sister broadcaster Openview Hd hosted their summer preview event in Johannesburg on Thursday. In revealing the names of the new shows that they will broadcast in 2015, the channel announced that former Rhythm City star Nokuthula Ledwaba has joined former Isibaya star Nomzamo Mbatha to star in their new upcoming local drama.
The local drama is called Umlilo and its premise focuses on a man and his 3 wives. The show delves into the intricacies of polygamous marriages.
Ledwaba returns to etv after her departure from the channel's youth soap opera Rhythm City. She played the role of Tshidi Khuse, who exited the show with a storyline that involved her leaving her parents, Kop and Mamokete Khuse, in Joburg to go and start a new life in Cape Town with her husband.
The actress celebrated the birth of her daughter this year. Rhythm City producer Yula Quinn was quoted in the media after rumours that Ledwaba was fired, that she “was not fired, nor did she resign. "
Quinn reportedly said a mutually aggreement between the actress and the producers was met after she decided that she needed a break to be with her new born baby.
Quinn also reportedly hinted that, should the opportunity arise, they would gladly bring Ledwaba back to reprise her role as Tshidi.
Also featured on the Umlilo are Hamilton Dlamini and Gcina Mkhize. The show is currently in production and will debut on etv in February.
