The Feather Awards Officially Have A Name Change

As the countdown to the Feather Awards rolls down, the organizers have announced that the event will now be known as the Chevrolet Feather Awards, in recognition of Chevrolet's long-standing support and commitment to the ceremony.

Known as an awards ceremony that is a refreshing departure from the norm – a cheeky, irreverent event that celebrated actors, artists, sportspeople, politicians who inspired, shocked, amused and scandalized South Africans, particularly members of the gay and lesbian community, Feather awards have now rebranded for 2014.
“We cannot begin to describe how important the support of a brand of Chevrolet’s caliber means to us.” enthuses Thami Kotlolo, co-founder of the awards ceremony.
“It’s inspiring to connect with a partner whose commitment to diversity is so tangible. As a company, Chevrolet has been at the forefront of marketing to the LGBTI community, and the fact that they partnered with the Awards to this extent speaks volumes."
As a brand, Chevrolet’s involvement with the Chevrolet Feather Awards began in 2009, when the out-loud and proud event first burst onto the scene.
“To us, the Chevrolet Feather Awards is a natural brand fit for Chevrolet” comments Brian Olson, Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing of General Motors South Africa.
“We have always been unapologetic about our commitment to diversity, whether we’re talking about internal company culture, or the communities to whom we market our vehicles.   The Chevrolet Feather Awards have provided a consistent platform for us to connect with an important audience, and we celebrate the deepening of our relationship with the brand.”
The Chevrolet Feather Awards 2014 will take place in Johannesburg on November 12th.
