EXPLAINED: Rolene Strauss Is Miss World | What happens to her Miss SA title?
Our country is still celebrating the triumph of one of own, Rolene Strauss, who was crowned Miss World on Sunday. Unfortunately when that Miss South Africa sash slipped off her shoulders and nearly tripped her as it went down to her knees when she did her Miss World crowning walk (was I the only one who was worried about that?), we lost her as our Miss SA.
The rules are simple. As the new Miss World, Rolene Strauss relinquishes her title for Miss South Africa. Her runner-up princess, in this case PE beauty Ziphozakhe Zokufa, takes over as the new Miss South Africa.
As the new Miss South Africa, Ziphozakhe will be the one who will do the official crown handover to the new Miss South Africa when she is crowned in March next year.
Rolene Strauss unfortunately also relinquished her eligibility to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. During her reign as Miss World she can not enter any other international pageant — as it is to be expected, one can imagine that her schedule as Miss World will be hectic.
22 year old Port Elizabethan Ziphozakhe will be the official Miss South Africa representative at Miss
Universe pageant on January 25th 2015 in Miami (USA).
Ziphozakhe will officially be crown the new Miss South Africa on Wednesday (December 17th, 2014) in Sandton, Johannesburg.
