Meet SABC3's New Hottie | 50/50 Presenter Samir Randera-Rees

After three decades on air on SABC2, 50/50 has moved to SABC3. The timeslot change has forced the show to tweek its look to appeal to a whole new audience. With that came some few changes and none so striking than the addition of a dashing new presenter, Samir Randera-Rees.

Much like channels like Discovery Channel HD, Animal Planet, Nat Geo Wild and others of that ilk – SABC3's 50/50 has broadened its appeal and freshened up its look to attract a younger audience.

Let's face it, SABC3 has modeled itself on being the channel of six pecs and svelte former beauty queen and models. It is then expected that if 50/50 will find its home on the channel it would have to adapt.

Part-Indian, part-Welsh newbie to TV, Samir Randera-Rees, has added some much needed eye candy on the show which will go a long way in helping 50/50 fit into the SABC3 brand.

He is also well-travelled — having studied in France, England and Portugal, and also has game ranger qualifications, a BSc in environmental science as well as European Masters in applied ecology focusing on carnivore interactions.

An impressive CV he brings to the table, but let's not kid ourselves... If Randera-Rees is to be a valuable asset to 50/50 and make any sort of impression in the industry, he would have to hold his own when pitted against his new SABC3 colleagues such as Jonathan Boyton Lee, Janez Vermuilen, Lunga Shabalala, Katlego Maboe ( who used to be on 50/50) and all the other chiseled young guys on  the channel.

Yes, I said it. We all know SABC3 is also about being voted sexiest at the You Spectacular Awards.

Judging by his looks, I don't think this 28 year old, will have a problem fitting in.

Catch Samir on 50/50 on SABC3 on Sundays at 5.30pm.
