Mzanzi Magic To Air The Royalty Soapie Awards 2015

Word is; M-Net's Mzansi Magic has picked up the broadcasting rights to the Royalty Soapie Awards 2015. This comes after a very tumultuous start for the awards aimed at honoring the talent on the productions of soaps in South Africa.

The awards, marred in controversy from their inception, first aired on SABC1 in 2014 a month after the actual event in Durban. This year Mzansi Magic will be the broadcast partner of the awards set to take place later this year.

Unfortunately it will take more than a change of broadcasters to solve the issues tainting the awards. Last year controversy ensued when e.tv pulled both its soaps Rhythm City and Scandal! awards, citing a lack of transparency over the voting and judging process.

It is also worth noting that with the event now being pulled from the SABC, one hopes that the relationship is ending on amicable terms, lest we have a situation where the broadcaster pulls their shows too.

NOTE TO THE ORGANIZERS;

If you are going to command any semblence of credibility, you would have to reveal who is actually judging the awards. This is not the Feather Awards. You want the industry and public to take you seriously, you have to be co-operative and transparent about the process.
