Khanyi Mbau and Howza Endorse Mayo | Named Brand Ambassadors

Remember Mayo? Yeah we all grew up with that. Well the flavoured drinking yoghurt from Danone, has just announced the signing of Khanyisile Mbau and Scandal star, Tshepo ‘Howza’ Mosese as brand ambassadors.

According to the folks at Mayo, they view this as a partnership that will highlight the strong heritage and street credibility the brand has within the township and broader environment.
‘Mayo is a consumer driven brand and the selection of the two celebrity brand ambassadors was not an internal decision but a consumer decision, this was made after thorough consumer research with the core target market late last year, Khanyi and Howza came up as the ideal celebrities to align the brand with.’ Commented, Mukundi Munzhelele, Mayo’s Brand Manager.

The two popular South African entertainers will be featured in the new below the line campaign called ‘Mayo, hits the Spot’.

The fun and interactive campaign will focus in the Gauteng and Limpopo regions and will run across radio, wholesale, Spaza, Taxi Game activations as well as social media platforms, the campaign has already kicked off at the beginning of March 2015.

Mayo ‘Hits the Spot’ campaign aims to highlight Mayo’s township heritage, superior taste and the fun personality the brand resonates. Consumers should therefore look out for exciting activities planned with the two brand ambassadors in their respective townships between March and April.
‘Mayo is largely distributed in the townships, Danone South Africa with the support of their Ecosystem Fund has developed a community social responsibility initiative called ‘Entrepreneurship for the townships’ which aims to create job opportunities for township women and empowers street vendors, while providing Danone South Africa with a more reliable distribution system for its local product. This initiative will empower participants with key information about selling and knowledge required to become a successful entrepreneur. The Mayo, Hits the spot campaign will be largely supporting this initiative to ensure that the participating spazas can increase their sales through the campaign.’ Added Marcus von Blottniz
No word on how much the endorsement deal. I don't know why South Africans are so cagey about disclosing endorsement deal figures.

Anyway congrats to Khanyi and Howza!!
