Tempy Pushas Pushes Uzalo Off The Pedastal
Currently in its second season the SABC1 dramedy Tempy Pushas has shown the new-kid-on-the-block Uzalo that if it aims to be boss in the ratings, it would have to contend that role with Tempy. The dramedy has managed to take over Uzalo's spot as the second most watched show on SABC1.
Tempy Pushas which debuted its run on SABC1 in February 2013 to a meagre 3.3million viewers went on be the number 1 drama in South Africa. On some episode it clocked in just over 5 Million. Many shows like Intersexions have achieved the same results by simply being on SABC1.
What sets Tempy Pushas apart is that the show was relegated to a death knell of the Friday night slot. Hell even variety shows like LIVE, popular as it is as a brand, fail to attract throng on viewers on Friday nights.
Tempy became the exception by achieving notably high ratings on the dreaded Friday night slot. Its achievement was rewarded with critical acclaim as the show received four nods at the SAFTAS and won 2 awards at the ceremony for Best Director In A TV Drama and Akhumzi Jezile for BEst Supporting Actor In A TV Drama.
Now in its second season which debuted in February this year, the show continues its winning streak by consistently being on the TOP 5 of tv shows in South Africa. With the latest released ratings, it shows that the Endemol produced dramedy has now become the third most watch television show in the country with 4.7 million viewers following Generation and Muvhango.
It is second most watched show on SABC1 and the number 1 non-soap/telenovela show on SA television.
