"The Real" Talkshow Coming To SABC3
After the failed attempt by SABC3 to have a local panel discussion talkshow with the dismal Tongue In Cheek and the cancellation of 3Talk, the channel has finally looked abroad again for a talkshow and now South Africans will have to welcome the ladies of The Real into their homes on the channel.
SABC3 has bought the rights to broadcast one of the US's well received talkshow, The Real. The show is hosted by Toni Braxton's now equally famous sister Tamar Braxton, Style Network's How Do I Look host Jeannie Mai, actress-singer-songwriter Adrienne Bailon, comedian/actress Loni Love and Sister/Sister star Tamera Mowry-Housley. Unfortunately, there is no word as whether the channel has bought the rights to current shows or will South Africans have to endure watching Americans discuss things that happened a year or two ago as it has been with previous shows the SABC has bought before. It was weird watching the ladies on The Talk on SABC2 talking about things that have literally become last year's news.
Having seen the show, I can assure you that ... should the SABC buy old episodes it won't affect your enjoyment of the show that much as the show, unlike The View and The Talk, is more about relationship and social topics rather than what is happening at that time in the US. For that, the SABC can getaway with airing 2 year old episodes.
The challenge will be with the celebrity interviews as most are on the show to talk about current events and projects. You may find it weird that Nicki Minaj is talking about Anaconda or something like that. Anyway, you have been warned...
The Real makes its debut on SABc in July.
