SABC1 Introduces New Panel Talkshow Much Like SABC3's Afternoon Express
Oh oh... there is a new talkshow on SABC1 in a style of The View much like the highly publicized 3Talk replacer Afternoon Express.
Produced by One Man And His Dog Films with Executive Producer, Kgomotso Matsunyane at the helm, Rise is an inter-generational multi-host lifestyle show aimed at young women between the ages of 14-25 years.
The show will be hosted by Kgomotso Matsunyane and Lebo Ramafoko who will be joined by industry newcomers, Khanysile Mazibuko (19) and Nyiko Shikwambane (23).
The Soul City Institute embarked on intensive research which indicated that young women needed more support. While the South African national HIV infection rate has decreased in the last year, the infection rate among young women has increased. The Rise Young Women's Clubs will be rolled out across the country to help young women to find support among their peers and receive information about health and lifestyle.
The show will deal with pertinent topics including the following: culture, informal settlements, unplanned pregnancy, cycles of abuse, the consequences of alcohol, transactional sex and body image.
This will be Matsunyane's second try at a talkshow format after hosting Late Night With Kgomotso — which I thought was a decently packaged show and was suprised when SABC2 cancelled it. She was also a regular panel guest on 3Talk so she brings some experirnce to the genre.
Rise debuts on SABC1 on Tuesday 12th May at 18h00.
