MAQaMOVIE Finalists To Star in New Film
Earlier this year MAQ Washing Powder ran a talent search campaign called MAQaMOVIE. The winners were chosen to appear in a new South African movie, called Skorokoro, to be produced by Phoenix Films and directed by the famous Darrell Roodt. However, not only did the five winners get roles, but another four finalists have also been cast in the movie.
Skorokoro will be produced by Phoenix Films, the creators of Mr Bones, Mad Buddies and District 9, and will be directed by Darrell Roodt of Sarafina fame.
The other four finalists who have been cast in Skorokoro are as follows: Mthandeni Mbambo from KwaZulu-Natal, Xolile Dlamini from Gauteng, Danisile Ntuli from Gauteng, and Thabo Mabaso from North West. The actors are eager and excited to be part of this new major South African production.
“They say luck is when an opportunity comes along and you’re prepared for it. We are indeed prepared for this opportunity and we take our hats off to MAQ for making it possible,” says Mthandeni Mbambo.
Samuel Frauenstein, Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Films, comments:
“we are so excited about this project and we are looking forward to working with the exceptionally talented individuals found through the MAQaMOVIE competition”.
Jacqueline Jacobs, Sales and Marketing Director of MAQ Washing Powder believes that the competition contributed hugely to showcasing the talent of amateur actors in South Africa.
“At MAQ we believe in making a difference to people’s lives and we are proud that MAQ has brightened the day of so many talented amateur actors. We can’t wait to see the final product of this fantastic venture!”
Shooting on Skorokoro starts on the 29th of June. Watch the MAQWashingPowder facebook page for more info around the talented MAQamovie winners and finalists.
