Sports and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula Endorses the gsport Awards

The nominations process for this year's gsport awards is currently underway. According to a press release from the organisation, the awards have been endorsed by Minister of Sport and Recreation South Africa, Fikile Mbalula, who has committed to supporting the initiative.

In their 10th year of rewarding and acknowledging South Africa's sports female personalities and administrators, the awards have grown immensely. This year they are getting an extra boost of morale from the endorsement by our current Minister of Sports and Recreation.

“Over the years, gsport has dedicated itself to raise the profile of South African Women in Sport,” said Hon. Fikile Mbalula. 

“We live in a patriarchal society that remains unequal. gsport seeks to change this through its efforts in raising the profile of women. 

“They further prove sport is a catalyst of change and one of many ways that level the playing field for women. We will continue to support all efforts that bring us closer to a transformed non-sexist, non-racial transformed sport.”
