They are BACK! Feather Awards 2015 To Announce Nominees

It's that time of the year when the industry's most irreverent awards sashays into the spotlight. The date for the Feather Awards 2015 has been set. 

The nominees for the 2015 Feather Awards will be announced next week, September 16th in Johannesburg. 

While award ceremony has become the must attend event on the industry social scene, I would be remiss if I did not point out that 6 years on, some questions about the event have yet to be addressed. 

One of the most contentious issue when it comes to the legitimacy of the awards is the issue of the nomination process, which also leads to the winners decision. 

Many fans, industry insiders as well as some of the members of the gay community have raised concern over the lack of transparency on who are the people who pick the nominees and the ultimate winners. 

The awards have at times being accused of being just an excuse for few gay people in the industry to suck-up to their celebrity friends and idols, instead of being a true representation of what or who the gay community deems worthy of acknowledgement for the year. 

Be that as it may, the event has continued to dazzle socialites and provide a night of glamour and laughter, regardless of the criticism. 

It would be premature to assume anything about the event for this year as the official media launch will be at the nominees announcement event on Wednesday. We will know then what the plans for this year's event will be and we might be able to finally get answers of the raised issues regarding the awards.
