Errol Barnett Leaving CNN

CNN this past week announced that Europe, Middle East and Africa breakfast show host, Errol Barnett, is leaving the organisation.

Prior to hosting CNN Newsroom, Barnett was a correspondent based out of the channel's Johannesburg bureau and presented the magazine show Inside Africa.

“CNN hired me after graduating from UCLA,” Barnett said.
“I was lucky at that. I was fortunate enough to be sent to the Middle East, throughout Africa … it’s because of everything I’ve done here that I’m able to go to a dream job in Washington.”
Barnett leaves CNN to become a Washington-based correspondent at the American broadcast network, CBS, the same channel former etv 3rd Degree host, Debora Patta works at.

CNN anchor Rosemary Church admitted this “was the hard part” of the newscast Tuesday, saying farewell to her co-anchor of two years.

“He is amazing,” Church told viewers of CNN Newsroom, turning to Barnett to say “I’m going to miss him so much … you are going to shine as you take this next step along your career path.”

Barnet has since closed his CNN twitter account and can now be followed on the below handle;

No announcement has yet been made on who will take over from Barnett, to join the 8am-10am (CAT) slot with Rosemary Church.
