Oprah and Beyonce Land On 'America's Richest Self-Made' Women List of 2016

No blessers here, just sheer hard work and it has literally paid off for these women. When it comes to inspirational hardworking entrepreneurial women of color the names Oprah and Beyonce (and Shonda Rhimes) are the first to come to mind.

Forbes just released its second annual list of America's Richest Self-Made Women and by no surprise, the media mogul and the music icon just so happen to be included.

In order to make it onto this year’s list, Forbes required a minimum of R3.7 Billion ($250mil) in individual net worth. Each woman included is either a U.S. citizen or longtime resident and, according to Forbes, “substantially made her own fortune.”

Winfrey, who appeared on the list last year moved up who moves up three spots to the second richest self-made woman in the US, which in part is credited to her new ties to Weight Watchers. which has netted her an accumulated a networth of a cool $3.1 billion — that's R46.7 Billion.

Queen Bey comes in at #56 on the list. Blue Ivy's mom has amassed her fierce self over an estimated  $265 million (R3.9 Billion) worth of coins just on her own.

Topping the list, with a net worth of $4.9 billion (R73.9 Billion), is Diane Hendricks, the cofounder and chairman of ABC Supply, a roofing supply company based in Wisconsin.

The combined net worth of these 60 powerful women came in at a impressively hefty R799 Billion.

For the record, as per last year's reports;

  • The richest woman in Africa is Isabel dos Santos from Angola who is worth R52 Billion ($3.4 billion). She made her fortune in oil and banking sectors.
  • The richest woman in South Africa  is Wendy Appelbaum with R3.9 Billion ($260million) made in Wine and Investments.
  • The richest black woman in South Africa is Bridgette Radebe who made her fortune in Mining and is worth R1.4 Billion ($68.5 million).

Now go tell your daughters and sisters that they don't need blessers in their lives, they need to make their own coins.
