Winnie Ntshaba and Sophie Ndaba Working On A Telenovela With SABC

Former Generations stars Winnie Ntshaba and Sophie Ndaba are back at the SABC and will be producing a new telenovela for the broadcaster. Ntshaba was announced as part of the broadcaster's R600million plan to empower local production houses and talent by SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng in June.

At the time Motsoeneng revealed the new roster of entertainers, producers and content which will boost the broadcaster's plan to elevate local talent, and Ntshaba's name was part of the mentioned names. 

Ndaba made her SABC return earlier this year when she joined the cast of SABC 3 soapie Isidingo playing Lerato's mother in the show's wedding story arc between Lerato and Sechaba.

I can now reveal that the two actresses and businesswomen, who were part of the 16 actors unceremoniously fired from an SABC soapie, will be producing a new telenovela for broadcaster. Ntshaba alluded to this in an interview with Anele Mdoda on her new SABC talkshow Real Talk  With Anele recently. 

Ntshaba responded to Anele when she congratulated her on her return to the SABC gushingly saying "Oh my god. We are back home." 

Though the actress was mum on the details, I can confirm that the pair, through their production company production called Tegasyx, will be working under the mentorship of Mfundi Vundla [The man who fired them] 's company MMSV Productions.

This comes on the heels of another former Generations actress's success as a television producer. Connie Ferguson, known to many as Karabo on Generations, has dominated social and general media of late with the shows that the production company she owns with her actor husband, Ferguson Films, is producing for Mzansi Magic.

While the Fergusons have garnered a lot of praise from the media for their efforts, their shows by virtue of being on a pay-tv platform have not pulled the big numbers that an SABC show would pull. With that it inevitable that Ntshaba and Ndaba's efforts will be seen by millions more viewers than the Fergusons.

At the end of the day, though I love competitions, this marks a great moment in the industry's history when artists are taking control of the content on our screens. Regardless of who has the most viewers all these women have reached a milestone that will only empower and inspire more young actors to dream bigger than just being faces on screen.
