Top Actor SA Winner Altovise Lawrence Finally Gets A Lead Role In A Film

I was one of the people who critisized Top Actor franchise for not delivering on its promise to make the winners movie stars. It would appear my criticism was in haste. I have been informed that Top Actor SA, the inaugural season of the franchise, winner will play a lead in film.

Altovise Lawrence stars as leading lady “Bailey” in the film tentatively titled, Love By Chance. The film was developed by it’s Executive producer and Director Samad Davis and is currently shooting in the US.

Love By Chance is a Film about two aspiring actors from South Africa who are independently in America trying to crack into an extremely difficult and over saturated Hollywood industry, meet by chance. Between the everyday struggle of auditioning, dealing with daily rejection, self doubt, financial hardship, crazy friends and a crazy dating scene, who has time for Love.

US co-stars are funny man Rodney Perry famed for his role in the Medea franchise; Legendary Clifton Powell, of Ray, Rush Hour and Grand Theft Auto; Terry Vaughn better known for her roles in Girlfriends Getaway, Greenleaf and the Steve Harvey show; Roger E. Micthell who co-starred alongside Denzel Washington in Flight and Equalizer and starred in the the Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Other actors include Stevie Baggs Jr and newcomer Desi Banks to name a few.

Having just wrapped on International series Blood Drive shot in Cape Town, Altovise says
“I've been fortunate to play complex characters this year; from Scandal to Blood Drive and now Love By Chance., “I am nervous and elated all at the same time but more than anything, I am grateful and so ready to step into a leading lady role of this magnitude, Bailey is a complex character and I see a lot of myself in her. Having South Africans at the centre of this narrative is an important step in taking our talent to the world.”

The film promises to be a true collaboration of talent across both the USA and South Africa with. Local producer Dumisani Gumbi or the Ergo company who produced the recent hits Mrs Right Guy and Dora’s Peace had this to say about the US/SA co-production,
“We are excited to be collaborating with director Samad Davis on this RomCom featuring local talent alongside US A-listers sharing the platform as equals. Production on the film started earlier this week in Atlanta Georgia with all post production of the film taking place in South Africa making it a truly collaborative production between the producers and countries.
The film is set to release locally and internationally in the first quarter of 2017.
