Mmatema And Somizi Team Up For A Tribute Musical

Former Idols contestant Mmatema Moremi has been a busy lady since leaving the show. The Idols alum has curved a niche for herself in the business as the voice to call on. This time Moremi is taking on musical theatre.

Moremi is starring in a new musical, The Manhattan Brothers' Tribute. The popular yesteryear South African acapella singing group, The Manhattan Brothers, that had a US Billboard pop chart hit, Lovely Lies, is celebrated in this tribute show.

The Manhattan Brothers paved the way for the likes of South African music icons such as Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba. Mmatema will be playing the late Miriam Makeba.
Former Idols runner-up Mmatema Moremi, who lost out on the title in 2015, has in deed pulled a Jennifer Hudson and made her stint on the talent search show launch her career to new heights. Good for her!

I also love that she is letting her talent build up her name in this business and is not pulling crazy stunts, taking her clothes off or jumping into "opportunistic" celebrity dating to try and sustain the spotlight she had during Idols.

The musical will feature accompanied by a live band, with musical direction by Johan Mthethwa

with dancing choreographed by none other than the man who judged Moremi on Idols — Somizi Mhlongo.

Catch The Manhattan Tribute, 8 - 18 December at the Soweto Theatre.
