New faces and line-up changes at uMhlobo Wenene FM
After five years, uMhlobo Wenene FM has announced line-up changes and a programme reshuffle, as well as two new faces who joined the station on Saturday, 1 July.
Lali joins the station as a presenter for Seza Umphefumlo, a gospel music show that is on air every Sunday from 09:00 to 11:00. Siphiwo Nzawumbi, better known as 'Spitch', was born in Umtata into a family of four.
Nzawumbi is a qualified broadcast journalist, having obtained his BTech in journalism at Walter Sisulu University. He has worked across different fields in media, from print to broadcasting.
Nzawumbi joins uMhlobo Wenene FM to co-host Sijik’ilanga with Luckeez Matyolweni who has been with the station for 12 years. The show will now be based in Cape Town, which is uMhlobo Wenene FM’s second biggest home.
Other changes
Consistent audience decline in the afternoon drive has necessitated changes in the show as of Saturday, 1 July. Amaza Ntshanga, Zizo Tshwete, and Reggie Solani will take over the show. KCI August has been moved to Jaiva Mzantsi, which is a weekend show that is on air every Friday and Saturday from 22:00 to midnight.
New show
The station will be hosting a new show called Siyabakhumbula, which is a music show that celebrates artists who had hit albums but are no longer releasing new music. The show will be hosted by Gwiba Nkonki from 13:00 to 14:00 every Saturday. Nkonki will also host the Reggae show from 14:00 to 15:00.
