SUPA MEGA PAIRS UP WITH OLAMIDE TO PRODUCE A HIT ON COKE STUDIO AFRICA
Two of Africa’s biggest music acts, Olamide King Baddo from Nigeria and South African local AKA, Supa Mega, are in Nairobi to participate in the recording of Coke Studio Africa 2017.
Olamide, top Nigerian label ‘YBNL Nation’ (Yahoo Boy No Laptop) boss, also released a new track while in Nairobi, “Summer Body”. Olamide spoke about returning to Coke Studio Africa, and the importance of the show in uniting Africa.
“Coke Studio Africa is a platform that shows what our leaders should do – unite our people and make it known to the people that no matter where you come from – we are one. The music movement is taking place all over Africa just like the show – we are one,” adding, “It’s high time for Africa to take over the world, because the whole world is watching.”
AKA is confident that his collaboration with Olamide will produce a hit that will excite music lovers across Africa.
He stated that, “Olamide is a big artist and he is respected in Nigeria and across the continent. I think our fans will be very eager to hear what our collabo sounds like. We have a great producer, Sketchy Bongo, who is known for his great production skills and has worked with many great artists.”
AKA who has been making waves with his solo releases, “Caiphus Song” and “The World Is Yours”, makes his debut on Coke Studio Africa, this year. In 2016 he collaborated with Patoranking on Coke Studio South Africa. Their original song “Special Fi Mi” was a massive tune, which went on to top airwaves across Africa and the UK. After the show, the two went on to shoot a music video for the song.
Coke Studio Africa is set to premiere across the continent from September 2017.
